How Does an Ovulation Kit Work

Ovulation kits are small sticks that resemble pregnancy tests. Much like a pregnancy test, these kits look for a specific hormone – luteinizing hormone (LH) – to predict when ovulation might occur. An ovulation kit is available over the counter or online. When LH levels rise, it signals the beginning of a woman’s most fertile days of the month.

Because many women are unsure as to when they ovulation, they purchase multiple ovulation kits so they can test frequently. Unlike a pregnancy test which is a one time use, ovulation predictors may be used daily. The tests are not expensive and are often found in packs of five or more.

Testing is performed by urinating on a testing stick. Unlike pregnancy tests, women should not use the first morning’s urine to detect ovulation. Instead, aim to test mid-afternoon. However, once a time is selected to test, the woman should aim to test every day at the same time for consistency.

Women can reduce the frequency of ovulation testing by taking note of their menstrual cycle. Ovulation usually occurs approximately 10 to 14 days after the first day of the last period. These numbers are just an estimate however, and results vary from woman to woman.

Why do I need an ovulation test kit?

Most women have been taught that the average length of a woman’s menstrual cycle is 28 days, and that ovulation occurs on day 14. However, cycles can vary greatly, especially for those of us who stop taking birth control pills in order to conceive. You might find that you have much longer or shorter cycles, and ovulation does not necessarily occur halfway through your cycle. Ovulation predictor kits can help you pinpoint when you are about to ovulate, so that you can time intercourse accordingly.

For example, let’s say a woman has a 32-day cycle, and she ovulates on day 20 of that cycle. If she assumed that she ovulated on day 14 and had intercourse around that time, she would be off by 6 days. Keeping in mind that sperm can only survive inside a woman’s body for a maximum of 5 days, this woman would miss her actual ovulation date every time. By using an ovulation predictor kit, she would have identified that her ovulation occurred later than she had been expecting, and she would be able to plan for intercourse at her most fertile time of her cycle.

How do ovulation predictor kits work?

Just before ovulation, your body produces more luteinizing hormone (LH) in order to help the mature ovum release from its protective follicle. Ovulation predictor kits detect this LH “surge” and indicate that you are in your fertile window. When your ovulation test shows a positive result, it means ovulation is likely to occur within 24 to 36 hours. You are most fertile in the 2-3 days before ovulation as well as on the day you ovulate. Many women choose to test twice a day to be sure they do not miss their LH surge, thus increasing their chances of becoming pregnant.

You have a much better chance of becoming pregnant if you can predict when ovulation is likely to occur. However, an LH surge does not guarantee that you will ovulate, and some women experience multiple LH surges throughout the course of their cycles. The only way to tell if you actually ovulated is to track your basal body temperature and look for an increased thermal shift which indicates that ovulation has occurred. Where can I buy best ovulation predictor kits?

Ovulation predictor kits are available at most supermarkets and discount stores such as Ralphs, CVS and Wal-Mart, but they only carry the digital and midstream varieties. There are several kinds of ovulation predictor kits such as Clear Blue and First Response ovulation kit, but they all provide the same results. The cheapest ovulation tests are available online, and some websites even offer free shipping.

How to use ovulation kit

These kits are very simple and they work by monitoring and letting you know when your eggs are ready to be fertilized. All kits that are sold actually work differently and are made by different manufacturers so it’s best to read each one before you purchase it, but the one you buy will depend on how fast you want to become pregnant. There’s no better way to conceive than to get pregnant the natural way which can be very beautiful. You can buy a ovulation kit at a very affordable price and it’s definitely worth it rather than couples sitting and waiting and getting frustrated because they have no idea when the time is right.

Ovulation Signs

There’s no better way than monitoring and sharing that intimate moment at the right time, the results can definitely be a moment you’ve both been waiting for. There are always a sign when your body is telling you it’s time to become a mom, but that simply depends on the eggs and the sperm. If you have no idea what are some of the signs to look for when your body is ovulating, one sign in particular would be when a woman is passing a clear jelly like substance.

This is perfectly normal and this is called mucous and as the time for ovulating comes closer the less thick it is. This simply means this is the right time to engage in that special moment and wait for your pregnancy results, and if you want to get pregnant naturally there’s no simpler way than doing it without any needed drugs or methods. Most of the time this is will suffice, especially if you are keeping tabs on when it’s time to get pregnant by knowing and understanding when your body is ready to say yes. This is the most beautiful way for couples to conceive, there’s nothing better than naturally bringing a child into the world.
